A few weeks ago I found this pattern on Pinterest and I just FELL. IN. LOVE. It is so elegant and looks like it will be super easy to make. I bought the pattern the other day and have been scouring the internet to see what others have made already. I have just recently felt a little more comfortable with sewing with knits so I decided that I would stick with a knit for this dress too. I decided I would get a solid color to start with and see how it turns out. I really liked the Colette example of all white, but I think I’m too pale to pull that off, so I went with the opposite end of the spectrum and got a dark charcoal color from Girl Charlee. It’s supposed to come in the mail today so we will see how it looks. Knowing how awesome the Beach Goddess Maxi turned out I think I may go back and make a Washi Dress in a different kind of fabric. Maybe I will try it out with a voile or a double gauze even though they are a little bit more expensive. One additional cool thing too is that I’ve lost about 40 lbs and now I can fit into a smaller size. Yay!
Last night I started cutting out the pattern. Boy there sure are a bunch of pages. I think the print out is like 52 pages, but honestly, I didn’t need about 5 of them since I’m not doing pockets and I think there were some empty pages, so I just gave them to my daughter to draw on the back.
A few days ago I was reading some blogs and I saw that Colette is doing a Sewalong specifically for the Myrtle pattern. I was thrilled because 1) I had just bought the pattern and 2) It’s always nice to have someone to talk to if I have any questions about it. I’m really excited to try this pattern out. If you want to join the sewalong then click on the picture above and it will take you to the site with the instructions. This isn’t the first dress they have done a sewalong for. They have a couple of other ones on there if you want to check them out. Good luck!
