This quilt for my niece has turned out to be super easy, and it’s bigger than I thought (about 54″ x 57″) which will be good since she’s getting so big. 🙂 I have all of the rows sewn together. I ended up not making the edges jagged. I think it’s going to look better this way.
To be honest, I didn’t really know how to finish the edges, but I found a tutorial from Missouri Quilt Co on how to use the template and they explained how to finish the edges. Phew!
There are a couple of mistakes, but what is a quilt without a few mistakes. One thing I didn’t realize after I had finished with the top was that I had sewn the pieces for the hex edges the wrong way. Also, a few of the rows of hexies didn’t line up exactly. I don’t think my sister will notice though. All in all I think this quilt is super cute.
I think for the binding I’m just going to use the leftover layer cakes that I have left. It will have that patchwork feel to go with the rest of the quilt. For the back I have some of the butterfly material with the white background.
Now to iron, quilt and finish it. Since this is a much smaller quilt that I’m used to working with I think I’ll try some free motion quilting. 😀
