I call it a “Quilt” because I had no intention of making this a hobby later on. I had found my old Singer machine that I bought years before my daughter was born and we brought it out to fix some clothes one night. I decided that I liked the idea of making stuff with it and would try something out. Well, lots of money later, here we are. haha I’m in love with this hobby and thought I would share it with you.
Well, I have to admit (I think it’s painfully obvious) that I’m not a very good photographer. So these images were some of my first ones I took before I started reading other people’s blogs and saw that they have these elaborate backgrounds and such. Also, they were taken on my old phone (take that InstaGram), so you can guess why they look so bad.
Anyways, this quilt was my very first one that I ever made (with the exception of the ones I used to make for my Barbies when I was a kid). This first quilt was for my awesome little daughter, J. We went to JoAnns and she picked out of all the materials herself. The white blocks are just a simple white quilting cotton, but the rest were all a corduroy. The back was a chocolate brown linen. I was amazed that she picked these out all by herself. The colors went really well together. Maybe she will be a designer like me when she grows up. 🙂 I wish I could remember what they were called, but it was definitely a long time ago.
On this photo you can see that I had no idea what I was doing for binding. I just extended out the back and folded it over to make the edge. I know that it’s an actual way of doing it, it’s just not my favorite now that I know different ways.
All in all, it turned out pretty well considering I wasn’t even planning on continuing with quilting.
